Spring School Garden Update

Going on now @ GP!  /  Learning at GP Wide shot of Gilbert Park Garden. Raised flower beds in foreground with a bright, clear, blue sky

Happy spring! This is a wonderful time of year to get outside and appreciate the plants growing, flowers blooming, and the sun shining. It’s also a great time for planting! Our spring vegetables are in the ground: peas, radishes, lettuce, and more! We are hoping for a big harvest before the end of the school year. Thank you to the families who contributed ideas for what we should grow in our survey. Here’s our Spring Garden Update Video showing everything we’ve got growing at Gilbert Park.

Our April garden lessons are all about flowers and pollination! You can check out our ten minute lesson videos on the Grow Portland YouTube Channel. The lessons are sent to teachers every month and will continue for the rest of the year. We are excited about the transition to hybrid learning and we are working with principals and teachers to get kids out to the garden!

Continue to stay in touch and get involved! More activities and resources are always available on the Grow Portland website

Best wishes,
