Message from the Principal

Dear Gilbert Park Families,

GP staff members with a welcome back cut out sign on GP lawn

On behalf of the staff of Gilbert Park Elementary School, I am happy to welcome you and your family to the 2021-22 school year! Although circumstances continue to change, we are dedicated to providing your child(ren) a memorable, interactive, engaging and fun learning adventure this year! I can’t wait to see our kids back in the building and immersed in meaningful in-person school experiences.

The intent of this letter is to share information regarding how we will return to school in September. The state of Oregon has identified the first week of school (September 7-10) as Care and Connection week. This is an opportunity for staff, students and families to foster care, connection and community, and to create a healthy foundation for the school year. One way we are doing this is having a staggered start for all grades K-5th. Students will be split into three groups based on household. Your child(ren) will only come once the first three days of school. They will attend either Tuesday September 7th, Wednesday September 8th, or Thursday September 9th. These will all be typical school days with our usual 9:00 am start time and 3:30 pm end time. There will not be a late start on Wednesday, September 8th. School buses will run as usual and lunches will be served. All students will attend school Friday September 10th. You will be receiving a letter in the mail with your child’s assigned day to attend for the staggered start. Families will be contacted next week by their child’s teacher, introducing themselves and reminding you of the day your child will attend.

Our secretary team Mrs. Black and Mrs. Ortiz are back in the office and available to answer questions and support registration needs. We look forward to September and welcoming our families back to Gilbert Park Elementary. Please reach out if you have questions or concerns.

I look forward to welcoming back all students in person! Let’s work together this year to ensure that all students learn, grow and thrive at Gilbert Park! We will see you in a few weeks!

Visit our Important Information webpage for details such as the school schedule, meals, visitor procedures, bus routes and more.

With admiration,
