Principal's Message
Hello Parents/Guardians,
I would like to welcome you and your family to Gilbert Park Elementary School. We have several programs in place that I would like to share with you:
Positive Behavior Support (PBS) - PBS is a framework for creating a positive culture where everyone understands the common behavior expectations at school. This is achieved through using a common language, teaching and modeling the desired behaviors, and encouraging and reinforcing positive choices. Gilbert Park’s three Universal Expectations are: BE SAFE, BE RESPECTFUL, BE RESPONSIBLE. We focus on teaching what these expectations look like. We encourage you to be involved and support your child in learning and following these expectations.
Safe Routes to School - This program focuses primarily on pedestrian and bicycle safety within our school community.
School Improvement Plan (SIP) - Our plan provides special attention to the subject areas of reading and writing. The Site Council, comprised of teachers and parents, is responsible to track our progress as we strive to meet the goals of our plan. We continue to encourage our parents to partner with the school and provide the support to help your child be successful.
Here are some ways that you can partner with us to help your child:
• Review the WEDNESDAY FOLDER for important school and classroom information.
• Join the Gilbert Park PTA
• READ with your child a minimum of 15 minutes per day. This small time commitment has been shown to have a huge impact on academic success and positive parent/child relationships.
I look forward to meeting and working with you throughout the school year.
Sincerely,
George Bryson
Principal
